LYMPSTONE

 Updated 10/7

EATING IN - whilst the number of shops in Lympstone has gradually reduced over the years, the year 2001 saw one major, positive, change in the creating of the Lympstone Londis supermarket out of what had previously been a small Coop supermarket and a butchers/bakers.  Funded partly by a £42,000 loan raised by the inhabitants of Lympstone, the new store stocks a high percentage of all the food shopping requirements of the village.

EATING OUT - The three public houses in Lympstone all provide meals.  All but the Globe have car parks and gardens where food can be eaten.  All provide discount meals like "Sunday Lunches", "Two for the price of one" "Early eaters" and "Two for the price of one" at different times.

The Shears Place Cafe offers wonderful coffee and light meals from early morning until tea time

Occasional entertainments

With deep regret I have to report the demise of The Redwing, the last independent public house in Lympstone. Home of good beers, live music Jackie’s home cooking and Dave’s attempts to recreate his pop group days of the 60s. this was one of the last pubs in the area to host a mixture of live rock, pop, blues, jazz and folk bands on a regular basis, The Redwing has been a ‘local’ for many and it is hoped that a similar home-from-home can be recreated on the site in the future.
