LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL
HERALD NOTES
DEVON IN TOUCH ROADSHOW
WHAT?
The Devon In Touch Roadshow is a new Devon County Council initiative using Government money to provide a purpose-built vehicle equipped with 6 public computer terminals which groups and organisations can invite to their rural community.
WHEN?
We have invited the Roadshow to come to Lympstone on Saturday the 18th of October when they will be in the Village hall car park from 11am until 3pm.
WHO?
The Community Communications Officer, Peter Folland, will be on hand to show individuals how to use a computer, access the Internet or send an email. (A satellite link is used where BT Broadband is unavailable!) It is particularly aimed at those who have little or no experience with computers; they are keen to let people 'have a go' and the service is free. Visitors to the vehicle will also be able to ask questions about Devon County Council services.
LOCAL ISSUES?
As this is a partnership venture with BBC Radio Devon and Devon Fire and Rescue Service. Radio journalists, Vic Morgan and Liz Scott will be using the Devon In Touch Roadshow to broadcast from, talking to local people about stories or issues that interest them. Devon Fire and Rescue Service will be available on some occasions to talk about community safety issues
MORE?
If you would like to know more about this Roadshow please phone 01392 383444 or email roadshow @ devon.gov.uk or give me, Chris Carter a ring on 274104.
IT’S YOUR TURN
Schools have been teaching IT/Computers to children for a number of years now and they know all this. Age Concern and similar groups have done a wonderful job teaching the older members of the community. If you have missed out on what is available via New Technology then come and have a look.
