LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL

HERALD NOTES

HERALD NOTES – DECEMBER 2003

Play Area

This month’s Parish Council meeting was preceded by a presentation on the provision of a new Play Area for children based on Candy’s Field from mothers of the village.  The main thrust of their presentation was that there was a definite need, funds were available from a number of sources for a project offering facilities for children up to the age of 18 and that they were willing to undertake training to administer it.  This included inspecting the equipment on a weekly basis and ensuring that the equipment is kept in good order.

This scheme will be expensive to provide but it is hoped to attract major Grant Aid towards the likely cost which will probably be between £30,000 and £50,000.  The Council were unanimous in their support for the proposal including offering to reclaim VAT where ever possible.

Candy’s Field Fouling

In answer to a question on dog excrement on Candy’s Field a number of ideas were discussed and it was agreed by the Parish Council to ask the District Council to put a dog ban on a least part of the field through a BYLAW.  However, it was noted that the area used by children would have to be fenced off.

Village Design Statement

In the open session one matter that was raised was the Village Design Statement (copies of which are available through the village Post Office).  One member of the public was most concerned at the lack of detail and forward thinking in the document. The third version of this document is to be discussed by the Council sometime in the near future.

Public Attendance

A reminder that Parish Council meeting are held on the first Monday of each month (except August) at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.  Everyone is welcome to attend and speak if necessary in the open session.  The District and County Councillors usually attend and answer questions.
