LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL

HERALD NOTES

HERALD NOTES – February 2004

Budget

Whilst it seems very likely that East Devon District Council and Devon County Council as well as other interested bodies will seek an increase in Council Tax, your Parish Council will not be increasing Lympstone’s 2004 precept.

Village Design Statement

As you may be aware the Village Design Statement has been in the making for some considerable time. It has now been completed and the finished article will be presented at the next Parish Council meeting on Monday 1st March, starting at 7.30pm in the Committee Room of the Village Hall.

Planning Applications

At the most recent Council meeting it was nice to see several members of the village present to air their views on the various planning applications. As the Council must consider all planning applications, it does help them in

making decisions to know how people feel about an individual application. Planning Meetings are advertised via the Village Notice Boards, so keep your eyes on the Boards and attend meetings and help your Councillors by making them aware of your views.

Vandalism

Talking about keeping your eyes open – it has been brought to the attention of the Parish Council that acts of vandalism, within the village, may be on the increase. Whilst your Council is trying to find ways of combating this problem, one of the obstacles we face is the Police usage of manpower and equipment. The usage often depends on the number of Reported Crimes. So unless these acts of vandalism are reported, help and assistance will not be visible or available. Having very close experience of these problems, I realise the reason behind turning a blind eye. BUT without your help, these problems will never be stopped and eradicated.

To report information anonymously telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
