LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL
HERALD NOTES
HERALD NOTES – January 2004
Water, water everywhere…….
Some of you will be aware, especially those living in the village centre, that the Environment Agency has put forward new more modern plans for a Flood Defence Scheme.
One of these newer more modern proposals is to do away with the old “railway sleepers” and to replace them with a more easily managed “gated” structure.
The Parish Council has been involved with these new plans, the concept of which has been approved. Obviously there is still work to be done to complete the venture, and it is proposed that the Environment Agency will put forward a short presentation, before the next scheduled meeting of the Parish Council on Monday 2nd February 2004 in the Committee Room in the Village Hall starting at 7.00pm.
The presentation will no doubt highlight what has been achieved so far and indicate what the future holds.
To phone or not to phone
It has been brought to my attention that some people in the village have experienced some difficulty in trying to contact me. As you may be aware, I do not live in the village and I would like to point out that the position of Clerk to Lympstone Parish Council is a “part time“ employment and is limited to a few hours each week.
As I already hold another part time employment in Exeter with more or less fixed hours, my weekly hours as Clerk tend to be a little flexible.
However I am usually available at my home address late afternoons and early evenings. My telephone number is 01395 267871 and this number incorporates an answering machine and a fax machine.
Owing to the location of my phone, it does take me a little while to actually pick it up and answer. So if a caller starts to speak or leave a message, I can and do pick up the receiver and speak to them. If there is only a silence I am not tempted or prone to pick up the receiver. If there is no message I have no indication or knowledge of anyone trying to contact me. SO PLEASE always leave a message.
Roger Smith
