HERALD NOTES – March 2004 VACANCY Due to various reasons I have tendered my resignation as the Clerk to the Parish Council, to finish my duties at the end of March, 2004. If you feel interested in becoming the Clerk, then please contact any of the Councillors for information. This is a paid position which involves the clerical work necessary to support the decisions and wishes of the Council. The other main function is the financial responsibility for the Parish Council budget. VANDALISM It is with some trepidation that I again raise this topic, as the last time coincided with a spate of incidents. However, I would reiterate my previous comments - any incident of damage (or any other 'crime') MUST be reported to the Police. No report, then no response from the Police. Any report also helps the Parish Council determine future plans and activities. Roger SMITH, Clerk VILLAGE DESIGN MEETINGThe 3rd Draft of the Village Design Statement was presented to the Parish Council on 1st March by Harland Walshaw, who explained that it had been produced as a result of wide public consultation. Many residents had attended the exhibition Lympstone As You Like It, and over 100 people had contributed written submissions, which had influenced the various drafts. The result was a document of 5,500 words which set out to describe the distinctive a character of the village and its setting, and to establish design guidelines for future development which would enable the special qualities of Lympstone to be preserved. The Council expressed their gratitude for all the work that had been done, and agreed to discuss the Village Design Statement at a special meeting in the Function Room of the Village Hall on Tuesday, 23rd March at 7.30pm, which will be open to the public. Everybody who is interested in the future of Lympstone is encouraged to attend. |
