LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING 7th MARCH

For full minutes of this meeting please see copes of the minutes which are posted in the Post Office.  Below are a few of the more memorable moments.

  1. Affordable Housing – No action.
  2. Our EDDC, Councillor B.Ingham, told us that a rate of 4.9 percent had been set by the council rather than the original 5.9 percent which would probably have been capped.
  3. Closure of public conveniences – Cllr Atkins preparing a negotiating stance after suspicions that the costings supplied to us last month were faulty (rates of £4000 seemed a little excessive).
  4. Lympstone football Club proposal for Candys Field – Accurate measurement of the field by councillors revealed that there is insufficient space for a full-size football pitch let alone the cricket pitch and other items described in the document which Lympstone FC is currently circulating.  Questions from local residents were raised, particularly about the restrictions on the use of the field as it is ‘glebe’ land.
  5. Date for Annual Parish Meeting - set for the 25th of April when both 2003/4 and 2004/5 accounts should be available.
  6. Youth Club – Mrs Louise Allison was appointed as Youth Leader and Miss Ciaran May as Temporary Assistant Youth Leader.
  7. 2 new planning applications were discussed at length and 9 EDDC decisions reviewed
  8. Our Devon County Councillor B.C.J.Hughes came in at the end of the meeting with the news that our railway line is to be closed from the 21st to the 25th of March for track work although a bus service will replace the trains.

The next Youth Committee meeting (open to the public) is to be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 15th March 2005 in the Youth Club
