LYMPSTONE PRE-SCHOOL

We are pleased to tell you that plans for a new pre-school to be built by the Village Hall have been approved by East Devon District Council. Some of you might know the Playgroup/Pre-School has been in the village for 34 years. Started by the Mothers’Union in1971 in the Church Room, moving to share the Youth Club Hut and since 1991 in the Function Room of the Village Hall.

The Pre-School has always been very popular with parents from the Village and outside with a good reputation. To be able to expand it was necessary to have our own premises and with the kind permission of the Village Hall Management Committee we will now be able to move forward. The estimated cost is £96,000, so now the hard work starts to find the funding for this project. We have a few lines to follow but we are open to any ideas, and if by chance anyone wins a few million on the Lottery, they may wish to look kindly on us!!! Perhaps someone would like to do a London Marathon for us. Please support any fund raising activity we put on to help us with this very exciting project for the children of the village and beyond who are the future.

Just because you haven’t heard much from us lately doesn’t mean we have been toes up, far from it; Jane Moffatt and Tania Hope have been putting hours into research and applications for funding our playground. Fruits of their labour are now being realised.

The funding for the junior activity trail which will be built around the perimeter of Candy’s Field has been made possible thanks to a £7,000 grant from the Local Network Fund. The main playground is hoping to have a major boost from the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme in the shape of £20,000. This is conditional on obtaining a third party donation of £2,000, which the Parish Council is due to consider at an extraordinary general meeting. In addition we have had £850 for equipment and £700 to train 10 Playground inspectors all from South West Champions. Gemini FM and the Lottery are both looking hopeful and perhaps we’ll have more to share with you soon. Can anyone help them with a contact at HOWMET LTD.? We need an employee to support our bid to their trust fund, which helps safe and healthy children and families. This could be a source of a further £5,000.
