ITEMS OF NOTE

From the Parish Council Meeting of the 5th of December

COUNCIL VACANCIES

Two vacancies still exist plus the appointment of a new chairman for the planning committee.

PUBLIC CONVENIENCES

A cleaner/opener has yet to be appointed although someone has been appointed to open and close the premises.

LYMPSTONE HERALD

A public meeting will be held on the 16th of January 2006 in the Village hall to discuss the contents and format of the Herald.

NEW HARBOUR AUTHORITY FOR THE EXE

Discussions on the Exeter City Council proposals for the Exe Estuary (circulated) centred on the proposal that boat owners would be asked to pay for the creation and maintenance of a new harbour authority.  It’s main functions would seem to be maintaining buoys and employing harbour masters (based at Exmouth) whose main functions would be collecting fees.  Mooring associations and clubs will also be expected to collect fees.

 PLANNING MATTERS

Discussions on the proposal for 60,  2 and 3 storey houses (including 24 affordable or shared equity homes) on the Trafalgar Road site were postponed  after some discussion, pending the arrival on various reports on the site including one on drainage.

YOUTH CLUB

With new (part-time) staff appointed, 52 young people used the facilities the previous Friday.

ANY OTHER MATTERS

TRAINS

It was reported that with a new operator, on the schedule for trains through the village, the weekday pattern would cover Saturdays so that more trains stop at Lympstone.

FLOOD GATES

There will be a meeting within a couple of weeks to discuss their operation generally and in particular the pattern of closing. (Please see article by Cllr D Atkins elsewhere.)
