ITEMS OF NOTE From the Parish Council Meeting on 3^rd July  

Planning Applications

Devon County Council has written to the Parish Council asking for comments on the work they do in the village. - can they do better, can they work better with the Parish Council.  Devon County Council provide Education - Lympstone Primary School and Exmouth Community College although both are managed by the Head and a Board of Governors; Social Services although all of this is now provided by contractors, they do not provide anything themselves; highways including roads and footpaths.  Please pass your comments to your local Councillor and come along to the meeting to have your say.  All comments are welcome. 

There is a vacancy on the Parish Council.  At the moment, any ten electors can request an election.  Otherwise the

 Parish Council will co-opt someone to serve, at its next ordinary meeting on 4th September.  If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a Parish Councillor you should contact any parish Councillor or The Clerk

  A Planning Application for the erection of 52 new houses on the land off Trafalgar Road has now been approved by East Devon District Council.  Of these, 21 will be ‘affordable’ – 12 for sale and 9 for rent. The Parish Council will now do its best to make sure that the Developers contribute to the local community to make sure that this big increase in population does not stretch community facilities.
