THE EDITOR

CONTENTS OF THE HERALD

Assuming that the Environment Agency finishes its run of inserts, I hope to expand the Herald to include Births, Deaths and Marriages as requested by some of you.  Nothing complicated, just a couple of lines per entry.

Additionally, Lympstone Football Club could be a regular contributor – who else wants to have a regular section?

VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT ADOPTED

The Lympstone Village Design Statement, which was approved unanimously by the Parish Council earlier in the year, has now been adopted by the Development Control Committee of East Devon District Council. The officers who assessed the Lympstone statement described it as “extremely well thought out and put together”. They commended the VDS group on “an enjoyable and robust document that we are sure will be of benefit to the East Devon District Council in its Development Consultations.” Harland Walshaw, Chairman of the VDS committee, said, “This makes three years’ work worthwhile. The Design Statement is not empowered to address the contentious issue of where and whether development should take place in the village, but it can have a powerful influence on the design of such development. It is a guide for developers, for the Planning Authority, and for any householders in Lympstone who are thinking of altering or extending their property. Our next task is to publish it and make it available.”
