ITEMS OF NOTE From the Parish Council Meeting in December

BRIEF NOTES

This month’s meeting was the usual mix of reports ranging from deciding the correct name for the Village Burial Ground and where to put a map of the location of graves to a report from the latest PCSO (Police Constable Support Officer) Ms D Baker who revealed that we have had about a 20% increase in some classes of crime over the last 12 months and 3 burglaries (amongst other crimes) in November.  This was followed by a report from our East Devon District Councillor and a debate on salary scales.

Nobody has volunteered for the one vacancy we have on the Council – are you interested?

A swing has been installed by the Youth Club hut for use by older members. Numbers continue to rise but one older member has been banned.  A shelter is yet to be erected.

Questions on the railway network such as ‘why have we only got one carriage at certain times’ were ably dealt with by Tony Day who is the First Great Western Customer Panel representative for the Exmouth Branch.

The Planning Committee meeting began with the election of Cllr P Acca as Chairman and what followed was uneventful with one decision, one deferred to the next meeting in two weeks time and one site visit arranged.

Comments were not made on the time it takes the ‘monthly’ folder of documents, which all councillors have to read, to circulate.

Cllr C M Carter

REPORT FROM A J Le Riche

There doesn’t seem much to say this month except Happy Christmas and at the meeting the Chairman asked the Parish Council and the Public who attended the meeting to drinks and mince pies in the Redwing after the meeting.  This is just one of the benefits of coming to Parish Council meetings!

If you wish to join the Parish Council please contact Mr A J Le Riche at the address below
