ROAD CLOSURE

NB Burgmans Hill will be closed on the 19th of December by DCC.

URGENT AND IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR DISTRIBUTORS

“I would be grateful if Herald distributors would find someone to deliver copies in their area when they are unable to do so. Thank You – Jill Newton”

ENTERTAINMENT

Two village Concerts, four evenings of carols (plus several club-only events like that at the Sailing Club), a touring mummers group and too many to mention parties should mean that nobody will get to sit at home all this December.

 SHOPs SUPPORTERS CLUB

About 120 people enjoyed the free food and FREE drink at the annual party (see Brian Ridge’s missive on licencing elsewhere in this Herald)  Just how do we do it on an annual membership fee of £1 per person?  That is our Treasurers secret.

Anyone who uses businesses in the village is invited to join by leaving £1 and their name and address in an envelope at the Londis shop.

 Farming Features

Anyone interested should contact me as we are being offered a (free) column on this subject. - a sort of Ambridge without the sex.

LYMPSTONE

CYCLE PATH

Breakthrough! Go down to the railway bridge at Sowden End where the cycle path is to enter Lympstone and you will see the line of the path along the track. New fencing is being erected three metres from the lines.

 Lympstone Mummers

This year the Mummers will perform their play roughly at the following times on Monday 18th December:

Redwing 9 pm,  Saddlers 9.30 pm,  Swan 10 pm,     Globe 10.30 pm

 HELP WANTED

Last month Jill and John Newton had to deliver about 90 copies themselves because of the absence of their normal deliverers.  Please let Jill Newton or myself know if you would be prepared to be an emergency deliverer available to deliver ANYWHERE in the village. (This would probably help someone new to the village to find their way around).

RECEIVED BY THE EDITOR

A letter congratulating those Sea Scouts, Brownies and other children who did attend the wreath laying and the two minutes silence at Lympstone  War Memorial (contrary to a letter in the press).

C Carter, Parish Councillor, Secretary to the Shops Supporters Club and Editor of the Lympstone Herald

The winner of the November monthly lottery was Dr. Robin Telfer of Church Road with ticket No. 3114.

The draw for the special £50 prize will take place just before Christmas.

PARISH CHURCH

With all the office parties, the school productions and the shopping it’s time to think about the meaning of Christmas and taking part in some of the local church festivities.

We extend a very warm welcome to everyone to join in with any of the services.

Carols by Candlelight

The school’s carol service will be on Tuesday 12th at 2 pm and again on Wednesday 13th at 6 pm.

Elsewhere you will see details of the carol singing around the village but on Monday 18th December in church at 7 pm there is also the candle lit carol service.

Christmas Family Service

On Saturday 23rd there will be a family service at 5 pm with candles, singing with the worship band and the story preparing everyone for the big day.

Children, please bring a farmyard animal soft toy to the service.

Christmas Day

Christmas day services are at 8 am and 9.30 am but there will still be the usual services on Christmas Eve as it is a Sunday.

Family service in the New Year will return to its normal time of 4 pm on the second Sunday, the 14th January 2007.
