ITEMS OF NOTE From the Parish Council Meeting in February The Council approved a budget that will not give any increase in the Parish Council share of your council tax bill. Your Parish Council is leading the way in keeping its spending under control. Unfortunately the Parish Council share is the smallest part of your Council Tax bill. East Devon District Council, Devon County Council and the Fire and Police Authorities will declare their budgets in the coming days. Annual Civic Dinner This year's Civic Dinner will be held at the Saddlers Arms on 24th February. The price is £12.50 per head and will include a glass of wine. Please contact the chairman, Cllr David Atkins for details or tickets. Affordable Housing The main debate at the Parish Council meeting was about the need to keep up the impetus to achieve housing in the village that young people can afford and will have access to. The survey carried out over two years ago is now ready for updating and the results will need to be analysed. The Parish Council is willing to lead the debate but is looking for a Working party to include others from Lympstone to lead and guide the work The Council is to ask for details of the mix of houses that Cavanna are building at Trafalgar Road and to ask Sovereign Housing Association how the social housing will be allocated. The will be an open meeting of the Parish Council at 7.30pm on Tuesday 27th February in the Village Hall. This concerns the vitality of the village for the future. Please do your best to attend. Candy's Field There is evidence of horses using Candy's Field. The Parish Council is not prepared to tolerate this abuse of this vital village amenity. All horse riders are asked not to use Candy's Field. The Council may erect physical barriers if this problem continues. There is also still evidence of dogs being exercised in Candy's Field without their owners clearing up after them. EDDC is to be asked to provide an extra dog bin but until this is installed please take your waste home with you. There is a practice of this and other rubbish being dropped in the hedge in the path leading from the Field to Trafalgar Road. Until a bin is provided you must take your rubbish home. The path has been cleared by volunteers in the past but if all users of Candy's Field and this footpath act responsibly, this should be unnecessary and volunteers could put their efforts into something more positive. Super smooth surfacing starts behind the donkey field at Exmouth. (NB Outside the newly erected fence) VACANCY FILLED Mr Rob Longhurst of Burgmans Hill has been co-opted onto the Parish Council. www.lympstone.org A La Ronde, the quirky National Trust house on Summer Lane, right on the edge of Lympstone, is looking for volunteers. See our web site or their advert below for further details or ring 265514. Letter to the Editor (Typical of several) Residents of Underhill Crescent are the latest, and disgruntled, victims of an irresponsible dog owner who allows their pet to foul footpaths (as well as private driveways) and makes no effort to clear up. With East Devon District Council employing dog wardens who can serve fixed penalty fines or help bring prosecutions, perpetrators should be aware that the maximum fine is a hefty £1000. If anyone sees an offence being committed, the appropriate council number to ring is 0845 601211. (Sender known to Editor as is someone in the village who has already been fined £50) UNDERFUNDED? The Shop Supporters Club has a small amount of funds available for use within the community. Please apply in writing to the LSSC Chairman, Mr A Burton, Slipway Cottage C Carter, Parish Councillor, Editor of the Lympstone Herald

We were amazed at the tricks that shoplifters use and Julie also told us of some of our consumer rights. Ann Frampton thanked the speaker and members had lots of questions and experiences to share. Adrienne Hebdidge was presented with her new members pack. tickets for the Craft Fair were won by Ruth Campbell-Wilson and Dorothy Livingstone.
