ITEMS OF NOTE From the Parish Council Meeting June 4th

 

Harbour area - A recent article about the proposal of the Harbour Association to erect notices around the boat storage area attracted a lot of discussion at the last meeting.  There was strong concern that this might be an attempt to fence off the boat storage area and make it only accessible to members of the Sailing Club. Cllrs Peter Acca, David Atkins, Jim Bailey and Jim Holman have met Col. Wheeler to find out what is to be done. Col Wheeler has agreed to produce a potted version of the Constitution of the Harbour Association which will explain its role.  The idea is to put up signs to say there is no public right of way and no dogs are allowed.  This is intended to stop the widespread dog fouling in the area which is presenting a health hazard – NOT to limit the area in which people can walk.

Meet your local Councillor - Parish Councillors are to hold monthly 'surgeries'.  This will be an opportunity for anyone in the Village to meet them to discuss local matters.  Your Councillors need to hear the views of residents on all sorts of ideas or complaints and this will be the chance to do so without coming to the formal atmosphere of the Parish Council Meeting.  They will be held on a Saturday morning.  Dates and Venues are to be agreed.  Details will be posted on the website and on the Parish Notice Board.

Car parking - There is still a great need for another car park in the village.  This will be a major item for discussion at the next Parish Council Meeting.  Please come along to the Village Hall on Monday 2nd July at 7.30pm or let your Parish Councillor hear your ideas of how this might be achieved.
