ITEMS OF NOTE From the Parish Council Meeting in November Local management of the River Exe Local management of the River Exe came a step closer last night when the Parish Council supported the latest scheme for a Harbour Revision Order. This is the step that Exeter City Council must go through if it is to give up most of its duties in relation to the River Exe. Col. Geoff Wheeler gave an excellent presentation to the Parish Council on 6th November when he explained that the latest scheme is a slimmed down model compared to the first scheme proposed by the City Council. This one means less officialdom and hence lower costs, but increases local management and involvement of local groups who use the River. The scheme is supported by the Lympstone Harbour Board, the Lympstone Sailing Club and the Exe Estuary Users Association. The Parish Council was pleased to support this great local effort and thanked Col. Wheeler for his excellent work for the community. Public Conveniences The Public Conveniences on the village car park will go back to winter opening mode from Monday 12th November. From then, only the disabled WC will be available for all users. This step seemed to work well last year and does keep the costs down. The Clerk is also seeking a volunteer to look after the flower beds around the toilets. This will include preparation through the winter and planting of shrubs, bulbs and bedding plants for next year. This is an exciting opportunity to show your skill to make the area even more attractive. Please contact the Clerk if you are interested. Changes on the Parish Council The Parish Council was pleased to welcome Phil Legge as a new Parish Councillor. He has signed all the paperwork and is now a full member. The Parish Council also received the resignation of Councillor Tony Dover, as he has moved to Truro. This is a great loss as Tony was an active chairman of the planning committee and had experience of being Clerk to other Parish Councils before he moved to Lympstone. We wish him well in his new life. If you wish to join the Parish Council please contact Mr A J Le Riche at the address below.
