Not only was the noise too loud but it was thumping and boomimg into the early hours of the next morning. All of this is totally unacceptable. Powderham have apologised and offered free tickets to all thos who were disturbed. Contact: Clare Crawshaw, General Manager at Powderham. Lt Col Truell has elicited some worrying information about this event from Teignbridge District Council. Powderham castle holds a license for some of its outdoor areas but not the area where this event was held. Instead, all Powderham has to do is serve a Temporary Events Notice on the Council. When it does this, it can hold the event without any conditions and only the Police can object on grounds of crime or disorder. One way to stop this happening again is to ask Teignbridge DC for a review of the Licence held by Powderham. This can be on the grounds that not all of the site that is used for entertainment is covered and so this loophole allows these events which cause great disturbance. There is a strong view that the signs are not in a friendly village style and conflict with other signs and regular usuage over many years. The Fishery and Harbour Association is to be asked to remove the signs and discuss the question of management with the Parish Council. The question of the route of the right of way is to be investigated. If a new route is required or if the route shown on the definitive map is found to be incorrect then the Parish Council will consider taking steps to put this right. It will need the support of residents of long standing to sign statements confirming their usage of the public right of way over many years. If you can give some evidence of this please send your name and address to the Clerk of the Parish Council.
