ITEMS OF NOTE from the Parish Council Meeting Chairman's Christmas message
As we reach the season of good cheer, I would like to give a special thanks to those who have organised the many activities that we have in our Village. These things do not happen by themselves but are the efforts of those people who give their time and skills freely, for the benefit of others. During the year, the Parish Council has heard of several organisations that are in need of help. Not money but an extra pair of hands to keep things going. In many cases, the only thing you need is a little enthusiasm to do something good. Anything else that you might have to offer would be a bonus. If you are not sure how to start, please contact me or one of the Parish Councillors. Please make this your New Year Resolution On behalf of the Parish Council, I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas! Cllr Peter Acca, Chairman of Lympstone parish Council
Notice of casual vacancy for a Parish Councillor There is a vacancy for a Parish Councillor on Lympstone Parish Council. Anyone interested in filling this vacancy should write to the Clerk at the address on page 2 or contact a Parish Councillor saying why they would like to become a Councillor and the skills and experience they could offer. Applications will be considered at the meeting of the Parish Council on Monday 5th January 2009. History of Lympstone Several organisations and individuals have kept various historical records about life and activities in the Village. Sadly some of these a now stored away from Lympstone. The Parish Council has received a request to find a suitable store for these records and to arrange to have them available digitally so that they can be used for interest and research without putting original documents at risk. Councillors Brian Cotton and Simon Friend would like to know if you have any interesting documents, maps, photos etc that could be part of this central archive for the Village. Digital TV
The Digital TV switchover will take place next Spring in April or may, depending on which transmitter you receive TV from. The Parish Council is hoping to arrange an Information Event in association with digitalUK. This will give advice to those who are not sure what to do or how to get financial help. Details will be published on the Notice Boards as soon as the event has been arranged. Lympstone Twinning Cllr Simon Friend and Richard Crisp attended a tripartite Twinning Event in Bieville-Beuville, to celebrate 30 years of Twinning with Lympstone and 15 years of Twinning with Margotshochheim. A Twinning Gift of a framed print of the Furry Dance was presented to the Mayor of Bieville-Beuville to mark the occasion. In return ,the Burgermeister of Margotshochheim presented a celebration Plate. This was formally presented at the meeting of the Parish Council. It will go on display with other memorabilia in the Village Hall. Councillors Surgeries are under threat Councillor's Surgeries are held once each month, usually at the Village Hall, when anyone can go along to meet their Parish Councillors to discuss matters about life in the Village. Please remember, its the Parish Councillors job to know what is going on but they won't know unless someone tells them. If you have a gripe, a problem or positive comments to give, please go along to the Surgery. These are held between 10.00 and 11.00am on the middle Saturday of the month. Details are given on the Notice Boards. Clerk to the Council: A J Le Riche, DMS, 43 Salisbury Road, Exmouth, EX8 1SL, Tel 279665/ 07866 535580 lympstonepc@leriche6.wanadoo.co.uk
