Many people are concerned about safety on the roads through the village from the Exe Estuary Cycle Way. This is not only the safety of cyclist but pedestrians and motorists too. DCC officers are very reluctant to put any extra safety measures in place without evidence of the problems. If you can supply any evidence to support the need for safety measures please contact Cllr Simon Friend via the Post Office

FROM THE EDITOR Herald Advertisers please note-
2008 EXE Regatta At the end of June, two tents, two bars and up to three hundred sailors made a wonderful gathering at Lympstone Sailing Club when all four Exe clubs got together to race and have fun. Planning had started the year before but the main action began the preceding week when half of Lympstone’s ladies started cooking cakes. On Thursday and Friday marquees were hoisted on the slipway and boat park whilst cruisers got into deep water ready for races. Saturday saw the serious racing start.
While the grown-ups and bigger kids were out racing, the little ones had an afternoon of fun, including raft building and crabbing, organised by Mike and Abbie Gall and supported by Lympstone Sea Scouts. The Starcross YC youngsters arrived in a large fleet of Optimist dinghies (above). In the evening 250 ate bangers and mash before a fireworks show followed by dancing to a hot band. The following morning racing started again and in late afternoon more than 350 people arrived (many by bike) to enjoy a jazz band whilst they consumed thousands of sandwiches and dozens of cakes followed by prize giving (orchestrated by Commodore, Rosemary Maltby). When darkness fell all slipped quietly away too tired to do any more. More than 70 Lympstone Sailing Club members had helped with the organisation and had set the standard for future Regattas
