LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL HERALD NOTES

LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL

HERALD NOTES – Jan 2003

RURAL AID GRANT

The Parish Council received two requests for Rural Aid support this year.  One from the Lympstone Sea Scouts seeking funding towards installing water and drainage facilities in the Scout Hut on the Cliff and the second request for a further 75 chairs for the Village Hall.  Both schemes have been supported by the Parish Council and are to be put forward to East Devon District Council for consideration.

 PLATFORM HEIGHT

The Parish Council has been concerned for some time about the height of the platform at the station in the village.  We have been in contact with Railtrack and the Health and Safety Executive about the problem.  We have been told that the County Council have undertaken a feasibility study and prepared plans for Railtrack to consider raising the platform, it is hoped that this will eventually bear fruit.

 BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION

Sadly, no one came forward offering to pursue this competition so we have not entered this year.  If anyone would like information about the competition, perhaps for the future, please give me a ring.

LOCAL SWIMMING CLUB

Exton Juniors Swimming Club meets on Friday evenings at Lympstone Marine Camp (term-times only). The club is open to Lympstone children and already has Lympstone members. We have a few spaces for children who can already swim (we currently have a waiting list for the non-swimmers' group). There is a good ratio of coaches to swimmers, who are grouped by age/experience. If you would like to know more, please contact Debbie Davey on (01392)876704 or Annette Evens on (01395)233136.

LYMPSTONE SOCIETY

Members of the society might like to offer spare seats to those not having their own transport.  Please let me know if you have spare seats.  Tickets £8 from the Post office or from me at The Wedge opposite The Globe.  Tickets can be purchased on board on the day, price £8.50
