LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL HERALD NOTES – NOVEMBER 2002

PARISH COUNCIL CHANGES

In addition to the normal monthly meetings the Parish Council will now meet every two weeks, mainly to consider planning applications.

All meetings will be advertised with agendas on the six notice boards.  The meetings will begin at 7.30 and will finish by 9.30.

At the end of full council meetings (the first Monday in each month except August) there will be an open session when members of the public will be invited to speak to the Parish Council on any matter of relevance to the village.

Members of the Parish Council are your local government representatives and are always interested in hearing your views.  Please come along to one of the meetings or put your comments in writing to me.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL  The Lympstone Football Club has started Junior coaching on Saturdays in Candy’s Field.  If any youngsters would like to join please call Chris Gooding on Exmouth 265707.

SUMMER LANE  Cllr Bernard Hughes, the County Councillor for Lympstone advised the Parish Council recently that there is to be a 20mph speed limit in Summer Lane.  The Parish Council welcomed this and hopes that it will be extended to more of the village in time.

BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION

This competition is often confused with “Britain in Bloom”.  It is a completely different competition.  It’s aim is to improve the standards in as many aspects of village life as possible and is essentially a community exercise.  Lympstone, with its unusually large number of clubs and societies, two churches, shops, schools, pubs, excellent public transport, etc could do well with a co-ordinated effort.  The judging starts in May by which time we should have been able to sort out our few shortcomings such as dog fouling, litter, etc.

However, it is essential to have a co-ordinator whose duties would be far from onerous.  Anyone or group of people, who would volunteer for this most rewarding job please do get in touch Sally Harradine (275130) or George or Mary Truell (276793), who have been judges for this competition for several years in a number of Devon villages and would be only too glad to offer advice.
