LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL HERALD NOTES – Dec 2002

RURAL AID GRANT

The Parish Council had been invited by East Devon District Council, as we are every year, to submit any schemes which may be appropriate for grant aid under their Rural Aid Scheme for 2003/2004.  The Council can bid for schemes which are in the interest of all, or part, of the Parish or its inhabitants, (e.g. in the past assistance has been given for improvements to the Green and last year we bought new chairs for the Village Hall).  The grant does not cover any VAT incurred; this must be paid by the group.  The Parish Council will be interested in considering any suggestions.

HELP ON THE FURRY DANCE DAY

The Committee are calling on the villagers of Lympstone to help run the Furry Dance or to join our informal Committee. On Furry Dance Day there is so much to do for so few very willing helpers. The Furry Dance is for all the village and it is a wonderful day for both young and old alike. We must all make the effort to keep this popular event alive. We are asking for help at the Fete and for people to help out with the collecting boxes during the actual dance through the village. A few hours of your time would make a big difference, please give it some thought and become involved! Our Committee is very informal; we meet at The Globe about every six weeks. We have no nominated posts but all the members on it contribute a lot towards keeping The Furry Dance alive. These members always carry through the tasks they promise to do, which makes for easier running.  However we feel some younger blood on the committee would be very welcome. If you would like to help in any way or join the committee please phone Graham Wills on 01395 265441 for more information. We are running a Christmas Draw and it is being held in The Globe on the 19th December at 8.30pm. So please come along and support us and buy up those tickets, which committee members and local shops are selling for us. If anyone would like to donate a prize for this draw it would be appreciated. Many thanks for you time

What is PALS?

The Patient Advice & Liaison Service has been established throughout the UK to help anyone have a say about their NHS. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing difficulty in any aspect of your NHS, then we need to know about it to help put it right. Nearly everyone who makes contact with PALS does so not only to gain help for themselves, but also to make sure that whatever it is, it does not happen to anyone else.

PALS is part of the NHS, so you may wonder about it biting the hand that feeds it. Well we feel that if we can listen to what you have to say, then we can learn from your experience and put right what ever needs changing. We cannot do this without you. We need you to tell us about your experience of the NHS. These need not be about your local hospitals or GP practices as Opticians, Pharmacies and Dental surgeries also provide NHS care.

No concern is too small or doesn’t matter to PALS. If it is bothering you, then give PALS a call. We’ve helped people with worries about waiting lists, access to services, transport problems, relationships with health care professionals, getting information, writing letters, meetings, home visits…. PALS will work confidentially with you to help make things better for you.

My name is Liz Harkin, and I look forward to your call:
