LYMPSTONE PARISH COUNCIL

HERALD NOTES – SEPTEMBER 2002

Parish Council Vacancies

The Chairman Cllr Richard Eastley thanked the retiring councillors, Mrs Doak, Mrs Eastley and Mr Parsons, for the valuable contributions they had made to the Parish Council.

The vacancies were filled and the Parish Council is pleased to welcome Mr Carter, Mr Dover and Mrs Humphrey.  We hope they will enjoy their involvement in local affairs.

Housing in Lympstone

The Parish Council had a very informative talk from Mrs Sarah Humphrey who is the Development Manager for Sovereign Housing Association about affordable housing in the village.  This is of great interest to the Parish Council because of the proposals being made – for a considerable number of houses – in the land off Trafalgar Road.

The Parish Council will be discussing this matter in depth during the autumn and now is the time to make your views known to the Councillors or in writing me.

A Lympstone Web Site

There seems to be growing interest in developing a village Web Site.  This could contain details of the village and would be an ideal place to advertise forthcoming village events and from which links to other village sites like the Shops Supporters Club, School, Church etc.  If anybody would like to be involved in the development of this exciting project please get in touch.

  Speeding

The Parish Council discussed speeding vehicles through the village.  Previous discussions with the County Highway Authority about this meets the response that the speed merchants are local people who know the roads well.  If you are an offender please give the rest of us some thought and slow down.

Exmouth Community College

The new principal of Exmouth Community College, Mr Anthony Alexander, has offered to come and speak to the Parish Council about the place of the college in the community.  The College of course offers a large programme of adult education as well as being responsible for educating our youngsters.

The meeting will be held on Monday 7 October in the Village Hall just prior to the Parish Council meeting and will be open to the public.

Sally Harradine, Clerk to the Council
