Ambulatory artist Phil Smith (of Crab Walks and Wrights & Sites) leads a performance walk around the grounds of A La Ronde, exploring the influence of Oswald Reichel on the property and its setting. Why did Reichel, the first man to inhabit the house after almost a century of female stewardship, make the dramatic changes he did? What connection was there between his development of A La Ronde and his labours in the intellectual engine room of Exeter, the Devon and Exeter Institution? And why the strange living arrangements between Reichel and his wife? Phil Smith, after last year's speculation on the meanings of the original shapes and designs of A La Ronde, will present another feast of performance, story, history, conjecture and visual poetry.

Volunteers are always wanted.  In addition to room stewards, we need help with the Shop & Visitor Reception, and selling raffle tickets. Only skill needed is enjoying talking to people!  Money raised remains at the property to enable essential conservation work and projects we would not otherwise be able to fund.  Also, pianists to play the boudoir grand piano on either Saturday/ Sunday/Tuesday.   An informal setting for someone wanting to get a bit of experience playing in front of people who are on the move through the house, or just enjoy playing a lovely instrument in a relaxed atmosphere...
