Lympstone Fishery & Harbour Association

The Lympstone Fisheries and Harbour Association (LFHA) owns 42 acres of the foreshore between Lympstone and Courtlands Cross and leases a further area from the Crown between Darling Rock and Parsonage Stile. The executive committee of the Association, the Harbour Board, administers this area which includes the harbour and slipway and the ramp at Sowden End. It manages its property according to a constitution with the following objectives:
to promote and enable recreation on the estuary
to maintain the fabric of the harbour and manage the facilities within it
to have regard for the marine environment within the confines of its property and the Exe Estuary as a whole
Moorings are leased to people who live locally.
Lympstone operates a two season boating year. During the sailing season, larger vessels are moored in the estuary, whilst sailing dinghies and tenders are stored on the harbour hard-standing. During the winter period, dinghies and tenders are removed from the Association’s property and the larger vessels are craned onto the hard-standing.
Whilst the focus of the LFHA is the maintenance of its assets, and management of mooring and winter berthing, the recreational side of sailing and boating is addressed by Lympstone Sailing Club which owns the ground upon which the Clubhouse (but not the LFHA store) stands.
