And a Nightingale sang

May 17, 2015 @ 4:00 pm

AND A NIGHTINGALE SANG…

…in nightingalemyth and legend, in fairy tale and poetry, in song and music, in Old Road, Tiverton and in Berkeley Square. With pictures and recordings, and with a live performance on a very special musical instrument, Harland Walshaw talks about the most magical of songbirds. You will hear the nightingale as you have never heard it before, and experience the very first outside broadcast as it was made some 90 years ago. For a thousand years the nightingale has been the most celebrated songbird in the western world.

Come to the Village Hall at 3pm on Sunday afternoon, 17th May, as the nightingales themselves are returning from their African winter quarters, and fall under their spell.

Tickets are £3, and can be bought on the door, which will open at 2.30pm. Tea will be served. There will be magic abroad in the air.
