Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the penitential season of Lent, the 40-day liturgical period of prayer and fasting or abstinence, when our focus turns towards the cross as we prepare to celebrate Easter. Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of the faithful as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. The ashes used are from the burning of the palms from last year’s Palm Sunday.

Please do try to attend the Said Eucharist at 11:00am on 14th February which will include the Imposition of Ashes.
