Lympstone Furry Dance

The programme for this year’s Furry Dance will be similar to last year, timings are as follows;

09.30 Road closed between the hairdressers and the newsagents for setting up the Pannier Market stalls.

10.30. W.I. open for a full day of serving coffee, ploughman’s lunches followed by tea and cakes in the Methodist Hall.

10.45 Boney Stone’s Memorial Football Match kicks off on the Cliff Field.

11.00 Pannier Market opens.

11.30 Fun Dog Show on the slipway at the Boat Shelter.

13.00 The Band plays on The Green.

13.45 Fancy Dress judging on the Cliff Field with the introduction of a new class for group entries of four or more.

15.30 Furry Dance starts from the end of the Strand, between Quay Lane and Pump Lane. Dancers line up on the hill in sets of four, behind the Band. Road closure set in place from the Saddlers Arms to Highcliff Close junction. W.I. finish serving tea and cakes at the Methodist Hall. After the dance has passed through, the stalls, music and entertainment for all ages, will continue in the heart of the village. At The Saddlers Arms the garden BBQ will be serving those awaiting the arrival of the dance and will continue into the evening.

16.30 The dance will make a circuit of the Saddlers car park where the final selection of the best fancy dress dancing set of two or four, will be announced before setting off on the return journey.

17.00 Dancers return to the village centre and the Band leads the dance along the Strand, terminating where it began. Drawing the raffle concludes proceedings

18.00 Road closure ends.
Details of the Fancy Dress competition and Dog Show classes will be publicised in our full programme leaflet to be circulated through local village outlets very soon.  Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day from the village pubs, café and Jason’s sea food
