A Cub Pack is to be restarted in the village following on from the success of the new Beaver Colony. There is now a waiting list for the Beavers (aged 6-8) and the new Cub Pack (8-10) is starting with three youngsters who have graduated from Beavers.

There is also a waiting list for Cubs which was collected at the open day held earlier this year. These will all help form the basis of the new Pack.

The Pack is due to start in the New Year thanks to the Cub Leader-in-waiting, Gary Borrie, who has volunteered his services and has been helping out with the Beaver Colony since its formation. He will be assisted by the Group Scout Leader, Mike Hales, who has over 40 years’  experience in the movement.

The group is holding its annual general meeting on Wednesday, 11th January in the Scout HQ on Cliff Field, starting at 7.15pm. The group is looking for helpers to join its management committee. If you would like to help out please give Mike Hales a call on 01395 260723.

The Beaver Colony represented the Scouting movement at the recent Remembrance Day ceremony alongside the war memorial in Lympstone.

Hopefully next year we will be seeing the standards of both Beavers and Cubs at the ceremony.

The group also held a very successful Family Christmas Bingo fundraiser, including a draw which added £240 to the coffers.

The event was very well supported and the hall was full of families, many of whom took home prizes including chicken dinners and chocolates.

Father Christmas dropped in to hand out some presents and there were teas, coffees and mince pies on hand.

The group would like to thank Brian Stewart for being caller for the evening and to those who donated draw prizes, including the Swan Inn who gave a £25 meal ticket.
