Experience a 150-year train journey in 20 minutes!

On 1st May 2011 the Avocet Line Rail Users Group (ALRUG) organised a highly successful series of events up and down the Exeter to Exmouth line, marking 150 years of our essential local transport link.First Great Western arranged for a special Intercity 125 train to make a celebratory trip up and down the line.

The Lympstone Film Society Film Makers Group has now produced a commemorative DVD featuring a 20 minute film of the whole journey, shot both on the train and at several locations along it, together with one hundred stills. Many Lympstone folk are featured on the DVD in all their Victorian finery.

The DVD can be bought from Shear’s Place in Lympstone for £5 or ordered from Sue or Don Mildenhall (01395 260500) at a cost of £6, to include postage and packing.

If you would like more information or would like to become involved in the future of the Avocet Line, please visit the ALRUG website: www.avocetline.org.uk for further information.

(All proceeds from the sale of the DVD will go to the film making group for extra equipment.)
