Flora takes action for African children

Villge teenager, Flora Laney-Hubbard, visited Malawi last summer in order to spend time with and gain experience of living and working with children at a centre that acts as orphanage, school, hospital and feeding centre.

Flora raised about half of her costs (total of £1600 for the whole trip) through babysitting and odd jobs for people in the village, and the other half from family and friends, who sponsored her to swim across Lake Malawi! She swam the equivalent of 52 miles over about 9 months last year, and made about £750, so she wants to thank all those people who gave her money for that.  Flora would eventually like to work in medicine, teaching or other vocation that involves working with children.

Not content to rest on her laurels, Flora is now appealing for donations of baby equipment – like washable nappies, baby clothes, bottles, etc. – which will be taken to Malawi probably by next year’s group, but under Flora’s coordination.  If you have anything to donate, please contact Flora directly and she will arrange to collect it:
