Lympstone Garden Club, 70th Annual Show, Saturday 20 August, 2pm

A message from the Chairman of the Lympstone Garden Club

This year we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Lympstone show. It is also the 300th anniversary of the remarkable landscaper Capability Brown and you will see this year that certain classes in the show are dedicated to him.

We have been very lucky this year to engage the wonderful Lympstone Training Band to play for us at the show to help us celebrate, so all fingers are crossed for a really nice summer day.

The committee have been working hard, as always, to plan a special show this year, as you will see from the very colourful schedule cover, and we really hope you will enter something in any of the vast number of classes we have. Last year the handicrafts were a little disappointing as there were not the number of entries that we normally have, so please look at these classes and do have a go. You never know, you may even win a cup.

The committee have also come up with the idea of getting all the village children more involved, whether at the local school or not. Around the village you will see special pamphlets showing the classes for children and young people and ideas for entries, so please do pick one up and get your child or grandchild involved this year we will be presenting the children’s cups at the show at 4 pm.

I would also like to take the opportunity of thanking all the people who volunteer to help us out every year in many areas, without them we would not be able to hold the show. Special thanks to Sue Mildenhall for our cover design and to both Sue and Louise Goult for their colourful posters. So please come along, enjoy the show, enjoy the Lympstone band, enjoy the refreshments, and all in all we hope it will be a great afternoon.

Pat Squire

Chairman
