Our President, Anne Frampton, started the meeting by asking for a minute’s silence to remember Anne Scott, a very longstanding and loyal WI member.

Poverty in Malawi was the title of a talk by two missionaries, Roy and Shelley Maloney.  Roy felt God’s call in 2005 to help the orphans in a remote hill area of Malawi and set about raising money to fund an orphanage.  This enabled them to buy 4 acres of land, and now the building is virtually completed they can see the rewards as children are educated, fed and well looked after.  With 850,000 orphans in the country, due to Aids, hunger and disease, so much help is needed.  It was a most interesting afternoon.

There are a number of local and County events happening in the next few months.  Full details are available from the Secretary, Diana Budgen, on 278152.  Those members who are fans of Countryfile, should look below!
