The village hall is now greener, thanks to 40 new solar panels on the roof. It’s a 10 kilowatt installation (two and a half times bigger than a typical domestic installation) and the hall will use much of the electricity itself. The rest will be exported to the grid and will reduce the hall’s running costs. The installation uses ‘all-black’ panels which have a much lower visual impact than silver-edged panels.
The hall’s next major project will be a new heating system, to give more flexibility and economy than the current system. Fundraising will start in the autumn for this.
