‘Sifting Through the Embers’ The Clarion Quartet

November 13, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

SIFTING THROUGH THE EMBERS – The Clarion Quarter – Sunday 13 November at 4pm

A popular item in a recent Village Concert was a performance of the Fairy Tale ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’. In a setting for voice and clarinets, it was played by Lympstone’s Clarion Clarinet Quartet, and narrated by Mai Welton.
It certainly impressed Devon composer Simon J. Ellis, who was inspired to write his own work for voice and clarinet quartet. ‘Sifting through the Embers’ is based on a story by Douglas Adams (most famous for ‘The Hithchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’). Mai Welton again joins in to narrate both works, as part of a concert that the Clarion Quartet are giving in the Church on Sunday 13th November at 4pm.
The concert will appeal not only to children (of all ages), but to all lovers of the music of Mozart, Dvorak, Scott Joplin, Jacques Bouffil and Walthew, for the Clarion have a very wide repertoire from classical music to jazz.
