Avocet 150

Avocet 150

I think 1st May and the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Avocet Line was an event to be remembered! Lympstone did itself proud on the day with such a huge turnout at the station – many in Victorian dress. Well done, Lympstone!

People are also enjoying the other events organised in Lympstone (and elsewhere) as part of Avocet 150. The Film Society, who put on a very successful railway film evening, are generously donating the profits from the evening to The Friends of Lympstone Station. The usual floral display will be in evidence this summer, which will fully stretch our volunteer waterers. Rather than extend it, we would welcome ideas about how else we might enhance our station with this money.

ED:- This was a great effort by Tony Day and ALRUG and is, I believe, a true demonstration of what Lympstone does best.  Let’s get behind Viv in giving her some ideas how we can make this money work for our community.  Sorry – best pic I could find of Tony!!
