A group of local casual golfers, not necessarily associated with any golf club, are looking to expand the group such that on a monthly basis we can meet up and enjoy a game of golf at various clubs around beautiful Devon. As a reasonable sized group (usually 10+) we can get preferential rates at most golf courses.
A 2016 calendar has been drawn up and games are scheduled for the last Friday in the month. The first three games of this year have been played at Dawlish, Wrangaton and Dainton Park. The weather was quite variable for the March and April outings (as was the golf !) but we were lucky with the Dainton weather as summer was just beginning. Some quite good scores were handed in by both club and casual golfers who had dusted down their clubs for the occasion.
The next match is scheduled for Honiton on June 24th so please consider putting this date in your diary and join us for a friendly round of golf.
Golfers with or without official handicaps are welcome; for non-handicap golfers we have our own handicapping system and those with a club handicap use that.
Pre-match we meet at The Globe pub in Lympstone so that transport can be organised/shared and post-match we usually return there for snacks, a drink and of course the prize giving ceremony !
The group is still in its infancy and is finding its way in terms of organisation; we are not a registered society. It is possible that forming a society could be something to consider in the future but presently this is a casual group of people who enjoy playing golf for fun.
