New youth football club

New youth football club

An invitation to a meeting for parents!

As many of you will be aware, a group of village youngsters have been training and playing friendly matches on Candys Field this season under the watchful eye of coach Tim Mills.

Tim has been playing for the adult Lympstone team for some time now – but his daytime job is as a sports coach, working around the schools in Devon and most of the current crop of young players on Candys come from our school.

What we at Lympstone Football Club want to do next is to take these youngsters under our wing and set up a youth section within our club. Our intention would then be to enter one or more teams into a local league next season.

All of us at the football club are very keen not to let this opportunity go of developing a group of very talented young residents into Lympstone adult players of the future. Who can say that some may not go on to even greater things (if that were possible!).

Our next step is to explain our plans clearly to you the parents and in order to do that, we have booked the Function Room at the Village Hall for 7pm on the evening of Tuesday 22nd March.

We are putting this message in The Herald and on this website because, while we will be sending a message home with the children anyway, some of you in the village may know of other families and youngsters who may want to become involved.

We would also be interested in hearing from anybody who feels that they want to become involved in helping with the running of the youth section of the club, or can help with fundraising.

On that note, can we thank all of you who support our weekly lottery in the pubs and Post Office. Any money we make will obviously have to go a bit further now with this extra commitment – so please do have a go if you are in the Globe or Swan pubs – we’re giving away £80 a week!!

We look forward to seeing lots of you at the meeting on March 22nd, which hopefully will launch the start of a new era in the history of our club.

Chris Gooding (Chairman)
