Parish church update

At the Annual meeting in March, Mary Blair and Andrew Hubbard were re- elected as Church Wardens. Andrew has felt unable to continue for a number of understandable reasons (work promotion among them) and offered his resignation. Therefore the parish held a special meeting following the 9.30am service on 5th June. We thanked Andrew for his work and went on to appoint Richard Giles as new warden for the remainder of the year. His appointment was warmly welcomed.

By the time this is published we may know the name of the new Rector of Exmouth, who will also preside over Lympstone Parish. The interviews take place during the week beginning 5th June.

On the first Sunday of the month the Service with no name for the whole Mission Community takes place at Holy Trinity church Exmouth. These services have no fixed format and so are different every time. The worship band leads the singing and the service is followed by refreshments for all to enjoy and meet old friends and new. The next will be 3rd July.

On Thursday evening, 7th July at Holy Trinity Church, Exmouth, Bishop Bob of Crediton will attend with a service of Eucharist followed by ‘any questions’

with Bob. All are welcome.

The fourth annual Sea Sunday service, now with the added significance of fishing resuming from the village, takes place on Sunday 10th July at 11.30am on the slipway, with Rev Geoffrey Wrayford and the speaker will be one of the Marines’ pastors. The Lympstone SW Telecoms Band will lead the singing.

The popular Produce Stall, which is always full of home-made and home grown food, begins on Saturday 18th June until 20th August. The stall opens at 9.30am until everything is sold. Please support it with donations and purchases.

Coffee for Flowers The monthly coffee morning will be 10am until noon, as usual, on 28th June. See under the railway arch for this month’s venue. All are welcome and proceeds will now be directed to the ‘flower fund’.

The recent Christian Aid week house to house collection raised £1,226.34. Thanks to all collectors and those who contributed. (Jean Hackston, organiser.)

The church plays a part in the first Lympstone Jazz Festival with the Morning Jazz Praise service on Sunday 17th July at 9.30am. [Family Praise Service Sunday 19th June as usual at 9.30 for 10am start after refreshments.]
