George Truell expressed deep concern at the proposed targets for house building in the area and was aware that there were already many houses for sale across East Devon. This was echoed by many of those who were at the meeting. He felt that targets should be based on meeting the needs of local people rather than providing homes for those who wished to move from other areas as the open market should serve their needs. This would include providing homes that local people could afford and would have priority in purchasing or renting. The Parish Council has already made the point to EDDC and the Government that there should be more local involvement and emphasis when allocating tenancies of public or social housing.
