Transformed Topsham Museum re-opens

Transformed Topsham Museum re-opens

The Museum re-opened on April 1st. We are extending our opening days to include Thursdays during the whole season, plus Tuesdays in August. Do come and visit the Period House this year!

It has been a very busy winter and the house has been transformed: re-decorated, new lighting installed and, most importantly, entirely new and exciting information displays. One long wall will feature drawings of the Strand houses, using drawings by Caroline Oboussier. All four of the Museum boats are now based in permanent new display areas.

There will be three exhibitions in the Local History Room this year:

Celebrations (1 April to 24 June) – a collection of photos and documents relating to celebrating events in Topsham in the past. We hope to hold a tea party to garner memories of earlier celebratory events.

Sport in Topsham (30 June to 29 August) – sporting clubs and activities old and new, to coincide with the Olympic Games.

Mapping Topsham (1 Sept to 31 October) – a display of maps and vignettes of Topsham and its streets, illustrated with views by local artists.

If you have any memories you can write down or have photographs, programmes or reports in your possession which may be of interest, please contact the Museum.

Opening Hours: Afternoons on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (and Tuesdays in August) 2pm-5pm. Last admission 4.30pm. ADMISSION FREE

We look forward to welcoming both regular and new visitors to the Museum in 2012.
