WARNING!

WARNING!

Can I ask all residents to be aware that we have recently had a spate of burglaries in East Devon, most recently in Budleigh on the 21/03/11. You may be aware that Lympstone was targeted recently where a property was burgled and there were several attempts made to other properties.  All the properties burgled have been vacant due to occupants being away on holiday or in hospital.
Please can I ask all residents to be extremely vigilant at this time.  Make sure your property is secure, ladders are locked away and if you are going away ask a trusted relative/ neighbourhood watch co-ordinator or neighbour to keep an eye on the property and check it regularly – even better, get someone to house sit for you!
Please do not keep large amounts of cash in the house and if you have large amounts of jewellery, it is a good idea to store it in different places.  Keep a note of serial numbers and we recommend to photograph any items of jewellery for record.
You are the eyes and ears of the village and if you see any person or vehicle acting in a strange manner, please note as much detail as you can (keeping yourself safe) and contact the police using 999.   We need you to contact police as soon as you see it, so we can get there as soon as possible.   You are never wasting our time and we need to work together to catch these culprits.

If anyone would like to join our Community Messaging, please contact me on the details listed.  It is completely free and you can receive the messages by email or telephone at a time that is convenient to you.  It takes two minutes to fill out the form and it is a fantastic way for you to find out what is going on in the area.
