WI March Report

Heather, our president welcomed a new member, Diane.

Todd Gray, eminent historian and publisher spoke on Remarkable Women of Devon. Researching pre emancipation information on notable (and infamous) females was difficult as none of their achievements were committed to history, however with perseverance Todd has unearthed a number of local ladies of note, from authors to fisherwomen and prostitutes to philanthropists including our Exmouth ‘Powder Monkey’

WI Meetings of local interest:

19th March 2.30, Village litter pick.

11th April Estuary Group Meeting, 2.30 Glenorchy Church Hall.

18th April Spring Council Meeting, Torquay. Coach available.

County Events include a Spring Garden Day and a Women Walk the World event.

Committee Matters

A members’ contact sheet is being compiled for distribution.

Diana de la Rue will represent our WI at the pre-school opening.

Pastoral care and Village Events will be regular features.

Information on anyone unwell or in need of a visit please feed back to Mary Nightingale.

10th March Garden Club talk.

16th March Methodist Hall Quilters coffee morning for Hospice.

22nd March Todd Gray History Society

Anyone who may be interested in Lympstone WI will always be welcomed. For more information find us on the village website or come along to one of our meetings. Our next meeting, on 4th April,will be the Annual Meeting. The current committee are all prepared to continue, any additional members should be nominated before the meeting. The President is elected every year; Heather Stratford is prepared to continue should there be no further nominations
