Introducing a New ‘Gardening for Wildlife’ Award – designed to encourage our village to become increasingly wildlife-friendly.
Are you gardening for wildlife? You could enter this new category for the annual Lympstone Garden Show on 15th August and become the proud custodian of a beautiful trophy crafted from UK native wood and local materials by three of Lympstone’s local artists! At WAL, we believe that small changes can make a big difference – both for wildlife and our own wellbeing. Awards will be given out in the spirt of this, focusing on meaningful impact. We have an adult and children’s category (<18). Our two beautiful trophies will be given to the winners to keep for the year.
Your project may be large or small, existing work or a new venture. We’d love to hear a bit about your experience of the process – what you hoped to achieve; the difference it has made for wildlife, you and your family; what you have learnt and any future plans. One small change for wildlife is all it takes:
Install a bee hotel or bee bricks for solitary bees
Start a small pond in a scrape or a bowl for frogs, who can take care of some of your garden slugs
Plant a flowering herb or a mini herb garden. The pollinators will love it and you’ll have fresh herbs to cook with.

Deadline for entries is 6pm on 31st July.
Judging will be by a panel (Countryfilecalendar-style). Winners will be notified by 8th August so that they can attend the trophy presentation on Sat 15th August.
