Art Group Exhibition June 2022

The Lympstone Art Group Exhibition which was held over half term week was a great success. 516 people attended and over 100 pieces of Artwork exhibited. The exhibition was judged by James Tatum,SWac and he made awards as follows:
The Alison Leadley Brown Cup for the Best Overall went to Warren Keays-Smith for his oil painting, “Dementia”. and Highly Recommended Awards went to Jayne Farleigh for her oil painting,” Lympstone View” and to Kris Cooper for his drawing, “Mist on the Quay” .
The Norman de la Rue Prize winner was Jenny Moon with her collage, “ A Cloudy Day at the Boat Shelter” with Highly Commended Awards going to “Flood Tide”, a water colour by Judy Stutchbury and to Jenny de le Haye for her still Life, “Marbles Lost and Found”.
The Pat Ferguson Award for the best abstract went to Mai Welton, an acrylic painting “Dry Landscape”.
The award for best 3D Exhibit went to Mai Welton for her wire sculpture, “Curlew”. Highly Commended Awards went to John Welton for his wooden bowl, “Oak Burr Exploration” and to Melanie Betteridge for her “Peters Tower” on slate.
The winner of the raffle for the Panting by Jayne Farleigh, “By The Outlet” went to Frances Hurrell. The winner of the secret auction for Louise Banks’ painting was Stuart Bain; the favourite in the exhibition was “Village Life Captured in Colour” by Karen Mitchell. The wonderful flower display was created by Mary Strouts.
We ran a COMPETITION FOR YOUNG ARTISTS, up to age 16 during the week and we had over 30 entrants who painted or drew pictures on a post card. The winners were :
Isla Hands Age 4 – Flower Painting
Evelyn Ward Age 7, Lympstone Drawing
Archie Hilton Age 10, Face Panting
Phoebe Jackson Age 13, Rose Painting
