Calling all knitters & crocheters….do you fancy making some mischief whilst helping to raise money for Veteran Charities?
The Longest Yarn 2 – Britain at War, is a 3D knitted project showing how the country looked during the Second World War. Accompanying the exhibition will be ‘The Gang’ – life size knitted representatives of all the services including the Women’s Land Army. The model Land Girl is Daphne Hedges who joined the WLA in Suffolk and served for 2 years as a Rat Catcher in Devon and so it is only right that as many rats as possible that accompany her on her journey also come from Devon.
This is a short term project as the ‘Mischief of Rats’ needs to be completed by the end of March. Knitted and crocheted rats of all shapes and sizes are welcome as long as they are black, white, grey or brown, have a knitted tail that can be used to hang them by and are no longer than 19.5 inches/50cm as that is the biggest rat recorded to have been caught by a Land Girl in Devon!
