Lympstone Sea Scouts looking for volunteers

Lympstone Sea Scouts looking for volunteers

As many of you know, scouting in Lympstone has a long history. We have some wonderful photographs in the scout hut taken over a hundred years ago. Many people in the village will have happy memories of childhood involvement in the scout movement, maybe even in Lympstone.
After a difficult couple of years, Lympstone scouts is thriving and the number of young people turning up each week has increased significantly over the last few months.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help run our group. Some of these roles involve helping to run Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, although you don’t necessarily need to make a regular commitment – all help is appreciated.
There are some vacancies on the Executive Committee, particularly the role of Treasurer. This would entail a few meetings a year. The Treasurer role involves basic financial tasks such as bill payment and keeping track of the expenditure and would suit an organised person who likes working with numbers.
We are also looking for a new Group Scout Leader from August 2022 when Mike Goom retires. Mike has put in years of sterling work in overall control of Lympstone scouts and we are so grateful for everything he has done for scouting in Lympstone during that time. Huge thanks also to Kate who recently stepped down as cubs leader after many years as leader of the pack.
Knowledge and experience of scouting is not necessary for any of the volunteer roles but the Group Scout Leader should have the ability to co-ordinate a team of adults effectively.
If any young people between the ages of 6 and 14 are interested in joining Beavers, Cubs or Scouts please get in touch. There may be a waiting list, particularly for Cubs.
Please feel free to contact us to discuss anything connected with Lympstone Scouts or to find out more about volunteering with us. We will be present during the Queens Jubilee celebrations in June.
Spiller, Phil and Steve.
