Lympstone Garden Club is appealing for photos to illustrate a book about the Lympstone Flower Show. It will tell the story of the Show since it started immediately after the Second World War.
Tony Day, who is writing it, has delved into the archives and spoken to several villagers who remember the Show from their childhood. He is hoping for pictures of some of the key figures in its history.
If you have a photo of any of the following, could you email Tony at tonyday47@outlook.com

  • Captain O L /Mrs Young (1940s/1950s)
  • Philip Scott (1940s-1960s)
  • Walter Webb (1950s)
  • Eddie Bone (1950s-1970s)
  • Frank Kittle (1960s/1970s)
  • Vi Ware (1960s/1970s)
  • John Perry (1960s/1970s)
  • Bert Hutchings (1960s-1980s)
  • Bert Williams (1970s/1980s)
  • Eric Stafford (1980s)
  • Madge Greenfield (1980s-2000s)
  • Geoff Martin (1980s-2000s)

We would digitize any photos that emerged, and give the owners a good digital copy to keep along with their original.

The book will be published to coincide with the Garden Club’s Exhibition to celebrate 75 years of the Annual Show, on Saturday 2nd July from 10am to 5pm (entry free). There will be a display of Show memorabilia, archive material and photos from over the years. The cups will be on display for careful perusal for probably the first time ever. Refreshments will be available.
The Show itself this year will be held on Saturday 20th August.
