World Record Cream Tea attempt in June

The Community Hub are starting to plan Lympstone events to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee Weekend. So far, the main events are :-

  • Thursday 2nd June Beacon in Cliff Field with food & entertainment
  • Saturday 4th June Party on Cliff Field with food & entertainment
  • Sunday 5th June World Record attempt for most cream teas served

Other events will take place over the weekend including the Art Group Exhibition, photos and films of Lympstone during the Queen’s reign, a Bake-Off, The film ‘Land Girls’ with a talk on the Women’s Land Army, tug-o-war and much more! All events will be free to enter and enjoy.

We are asking villagers what else they would like to see included over the weekend and meetings to gather and discuss ideas will be held in the Village Hall at the end of February and beginning of March.  The Hub will  email the village groups & societies for their input. We are also looking for volunteers to help out at events. Please contact Linda Lyon at malcandlinda@aol.com if you have any ideas or wish to be involved.

World Record Cream Tea attempt in June

As part of Lympstone’s jam packed weekend of celebration we are very excited to announce that we have been given the official seal of approval to make a Guinness World Record attempt at the worlds largest cream tea! The current record stands at 1088 so this is a mammoth task – but one we are confident that Lympstone Village can get behind and absolutely smash!!
But we NEED YOUR HELP to do this!!
The attempt will take place in Candys Field on Sunday 5th June 2022 starting at 11am!
To make it a legitimate attempt there are lots of hoops to jump through :- each table needs a tablecloth, proper crockery and cutlery, English Breakfast tea – the full Monty on Devon (or Cornwall) cream tea items and in order to achieve this monumental achievement and historical event for our village we need lots of support!!

  • Can you attend? Can you bake scones?
  • Can you bring your own small table, chair, crockery?

Please please please help us create history!
Register your place at largestcreamtea@yahoo.com and we will send you all the details you need!
