Art Exhibition 2024

Lympstone Art Group’s annual exhibition proved very popular again this year with the largest number of visitors ever at nearly 600 We had over 100 exhibits and sold many pictures, sculptures, portfolios and cards. The Artist Rosemary Ensor was our Judge this year and she awarded prizes as follows: The Alison Leadley Brown Cup for the Best Overall went to Liz Herring for her water colour painting, “Bridgenorth Shopshire”, Highly Commended Awards in this category went to Christina Dickinson for her acrylic painting, “ Diana’s Thistles” and to Gillie Newcombe for her acrylic painting, “Exe Estuary”. The Norman de la Rue Prize winner was Sally Harradine for her fabric picture , “ Sea Notions, “ with Highly Commended Awards going to Teresa Sauven for her water colour, “Ice Floe” and to Sylvia Zair for her watercolour, “A Village Beauty”.
The Pat Ferguson Award for the Best Abstract went to Hilary Bird for her mixed Media painting “Scent of the Ocean”. The award for Best 3D Exhibit went to Claire Belcher for her, Pyrograph and acrylic painting on Olive Wood, “The Haul”. Highly Commended Awards went to John Welton for his wooden bowl, “Woody Self Expression” and to Sue Snell for her stoneware and clay, “ Birds”. The Judge said how difficult it had been to select the winners because of the high quality of the work overall. She mentioned in particular the work of Warren Keays-Smith, Sheila Stone, Ceri Bateman, Judy Stutchbury, Margot Cornish and Mariangela Williams.

We had lots of fabulous pictures  submitted in our Young Artists Competition. The Winners in the different age categories were:
Age 10 and above: Dorrie Welton with Magnolias
Age 9: Alice Fitzgibbon, with Peter’s Tower with Reflections
Age 7/8: Oleksandr Kozak with Butterfly on Thistle
Age 6 : Annie Evans Jones with Fish in a Tank
Age 5: Juniper with Blue and Yellow abstract

Other pictures of particular merit were Grace Jagger -Estuary with Swans and Hills; Reuben with his Robots; Marhouryta Honchar with Flowers and Tree; Evie Hands very colourful picture of a big cat trees and Nelly’s Fishing lines with Peter’s tower.
